AmbiCom BT2000C-USB Adapter August 27, 2009 Tim_Fran (Las Vegas, NV) Wow, was I surprised to find that I had been duped! The picture on Amazon shows the AmbiCom BT2000C-USB bluetooth adapter I was looking for; but I was shipped a generic no-name "Made in China" adapter instead. I was very disappointed because my old AmbiCom had quit working and could no longer read and backup the address book from my cell phone.

br /The product I received was called a "USB Bluetooth Dongle 10M, Ver 2.0+EDR" which is also available from Amazon on another page, but for 1/10 the price I paid here. I contacted eForCity to request a return authorization and refund, and after some discussion I got my money back.

br /On a positive note, after downloading the drivers I was able to communicate with my Motorola E815 phone and backup the address book. However, I don't know yet if I will be able to update the Motorola firmware. Here are the five drivers that this adapter required for Windows XP: ISSC Bluetooth Adapter, RFComm Protocol TDI, Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator, Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network), and Standard Enum Over Bluetooth Link.
Buy something (anything) else. August 27, 2007 RPG (Bothell, WA United States) This device never worked properly. When I checked for a software upgrade, the manufacturers web site stated that the security settings had been tampered with and prevented me from downloading an upgrade. Besides the fact that the circuit board was enclosed so as to block the LED indicator, I think this is repackaged garbage.
A good product. July 10, 2007 James J. Lausen (Quincy, Ca.) It is a good product to have just a little hard to get the right programming for window vista. Gotta look for it other than that it works great.

I'm quite curious where in the manufacturer's website I can find the updated XP drivers, as the previous reviewer has pointed out. After struggling for 2 hours to get this device to work with both a Motorola V505 and my friend's Sony Ericson Twhateveritis, I nearly wanted to break it. After installing the drivers that came on the CD, the thing is able to recognize both Bluetooth devices, but that's pretty much where it ends. I could not get any data transfer or further communication. I went to the manufacturer's website and there are no drivers to be downloaded. If there's a way around this, please post it. Otherwise it's going to be another lesson relearned: you get what you pay for-- if you buy it cheap, you're going to have to buy it again.
Works perfectly, once you download updated drivers. July 21, 2004 N. Chatani (Portland, OR and New Haven, CT) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Download the updated drivers from the manufacturer's website to make this product work well with Windows XP. The real manufacturer is in Taiwan, and has no english webpage, so tread carefully. For me, it was a great deal and works great with my Sony Ericsson T637 from ATT.
